Movement is good for humans! When we dance we can increase our sense of belonging and well being, connect with others, clear our minds, improve our brain function, lift our moods, and even overcome trauma. Dancing is a fundamental part of our humanness.
Yet, so many of us have learned not to dance. The thought of dancing conjures nightmares of middle school gymnasiums, scolding ballet teachers, or otherwise terrifying moments of exposure and embarrassment. And even those of us who love dance can get self-conscious about “doing it right” and “looking good.”
Well, eff that! It’s your birthright to dance. And I’m here to help you claim it.
Join this bunch of awkward, graceless, goofy, exquisitely imperfect humans and let’s do this thing! There are no steps to learn. No right way to move. No mirrors. No star pupils. No performance. No judgement.
We are humans learning how to move together. I’ll offer music and some verbal guidance to help you get into your dance and find ways to move that feel good to you.
